30 Housing Units, Offices and Sports Hall in Lyon

  • Elevational drawing of Tectoniques’ mixed-use residential block with offices and sports hall in Lyon, showing a stepped urban frontage with a glazed ground-floor plinth for tertiary and sports functions, surmounted by a mid- and high-rise volume of housing articulated in vertical bays. The façade alternates light-colored solid panels and timber cladding, with a regular grid of recessed windows and balconies, while rooftop vegetation and planted terraces indicate accessible outdoor spaces. A more transparent corner zone suggests circulation cores and common areas, and a faint outline of an adjacent tower and trees situates the project within its urban context.

Project description

The E4 North block is located between the railway tracks and Cours Charlemagne, giving it a specific position and geometry within the Confluence district. The buildings are arranged in a U-shape to open to the south and create a wet garden at the centre of the block. Access-gallery typologies provide fully cross-ventilated dwellings. A base of porticoes ensures the unity of the whole on the public space. The sports hall is a semi-underground facility that emerges to the south onto the garden, while the Panama building combines two office levels and housing, drawing on elements of Lyon’s domestic architecture.
