Project description

Located in a typical peri-urban context, the school is organized around a courtyard defined by the elliptical geometry of the impluvium roof. Paradoxically, this introverted form reveals the surrounding topography and opens the building towards the landscape. The classrooms, all identical in plan, benefit from large sliding windows that give each of them a specific relationship to the immediate environment. The protective outer zinc envelope gives way to the expression of the timber frame on the inside. The Jura timber structure makes use of a local resource.
