Project description

The Maison des Arts is located on a constrained site, along a railway line, in a steep, wooded valley. The building is organised in three superimposed layers: a concrete base embedded in the ground houses the youth centre; an intermediate level in patterned concrete brings together the shared areas and dance studios; an upper timber volume clad in perforated metal is dedicated to music. Lighter and contrasting with the mass of the base, this upper volume with its complex geometry meets the acoustic requirements of the music programme and integrates into the landscape.
