  • Axonometric line drawing of the Tectoniques architects nursing home in Auxerre, showing a large multi‑storey complex composed of four perimeter wings forming two U‑shaped volumes linked by elevated central bars. The plan organizes patient rooms in repetitive window bays around internal courtyards, while the connecting blocks create covered circulation spines above a recessed, transparent ground floor entrance zone supported on pilotis. The image highlights the overall massing, roof geometry, and spatial hierarchy between the residential wings, shared central facilities, and open courtyards.

  • Technical floor plan of the nursing home in Auxerre by Tectoniques architects, showing a symmetrical double‑wing layout connected by a central communal block. Two large rectangular residential wings on each side are organized around internal courtyards, with repetitive bedroom units aligned along double-loaded corridors and stair/elevator cores at the corners. The central volume accommodates shared functions with a denser arrangement of open-plan lounges, dining areas, and service rooms, indicated by furniture symbols. The drawing highlights clear circulation axes, compartmentalized fire zones, and a rational structural grid, emphasizing functional zoning between private rooms, care areas, and collective spaces.

Project description

Located in the upper part of the site, the new building backs onto the wooded edge of the greenway. This siting allows the existing nursing home to remain in operation during construction and ultimately places the facility within a landscaped park. The 321 rooms are arranged in two wings around patios, connected by a shared gallery housing the dining rooms, which open onto the park. The fragmented volumes reduce the perceived scale of the facility and support a residential character. The layout of the room and its window bay provides natural light to the bathrooms and contributes to domestic atmospheres.
