Inauguration in Nîmes / A School In The Shade Of The Plane-trees

The existent tall plane-trees form a remarkable landscape skeleton. They generously qualify the atmosphere of the site and efficiently regulate the climate. In addition, the flood prevention rules impose to place the classrooms on the first floor. We give value to this imposition by imagining the classrooms in the height of the trees. Thus, the children are offered a natural, peaceful and reassuring scene. The environmental approach is adapted to the local climate and particularly dedicated to comfort during the summer. This project is carried out in collaboration with Atelier GA, architects working in the region of Gard.

Final phase of a project

The new school in Rillieux-la-Pape, in the Rhône département, is nearing completion.
The site will be reconfigured on the basis of a harmonious landscaping project, accompanied by a modest, respectful architectural proposal.

The Parc des Iles centre

The park represents an ambitious project for the transformation of a former bird sanctuary into an educational facility. The Maison du Parc forms an islet at the nerve centre of the site, duplicating the oval geometry of the landscape designers’ overall plan. It has been given a dark, mineral identity as an echo of the islands and the materials that compose the site, and its broad butterfly roof extends a welcome to the visitor. Dedicated to environmental awareness, the building is intended to be an evolving, multipurpose structure.

Childhood

Tectoniques has been awarded the commission for a crèche in Autun, in the Saône-et-Loire département. Using wood as its basic construction material, with well-lit spaces, broad, open concourses and child-friendly ergonomics, our design is that of a placid, civilised form of architecture. The configuration of the project was largely influenced by bioclimatic considerations, notably that of keeping the building cool in summer.

A school in the mountains

Tectoniques was awarded the contract for the design of a school in Laffrey, in the Isère département of France. The building takes the form of a folded structure whose broad roof has generous overhangs that protect the facades and the immediate surrounds, given that this is a region with a harsh climate, including a good deal of snow in winter.

Black box

Given the narrowness of the site in question, and the closeness of other buildings, the architects adopted a judo-type strategy. This recently-completed house, attached on one side to the neighbouring building, turns away from direct confrontation, and uses chinks in the cityscape to optimise views and ambiances. The major components were entirely prefabricated in Binderholz wood panels.
